Find duplicate files.
Keep what matters.

Find identical copies, choose what to keep, and download a cleanup list. You remove unwanted copies yourself; your originals stay unchanged here.

Photos · Videos · Documents · Any file type

Checked on your device. Nothing uploaded.

Start with a few files

Choose files or drop them here.
We’ll check for identical copies.

Up to 1,000 files per scan. No account or payment.

A SMALLER PILE. THREE SIMPLE STEPS.

A calmer way to sort your files

01

Choose what to check

Select photos, videos, documents, audio or any other files. Oshoot can read only what you choose.

02

See the extra copies

Identical copies are checked from beginning to end. Optional photo suggestions are kept separate so you can compare them yourself.

03

Make your cleanup list

Keep at least one copy in every group. Download a CSV list to guide your cleanup in your own Photos or Files app.

A WORKED EXAMPLE

Exact duplicate or similar photo?

Try an example creates seven sample files in your browser. You can practise reviewing matches without choosing any personal files.

Identical content

Different names, same file contents

sample-photo.png and sample-photo-copy.png contain exactly the same bytes. So do the two packing-list files. These form two groups of identical copies, even though their names differ.

Visual suggestion

A small edit makes a different file

sample-photo-edited.png has a small visual change. It is not an exact copy. Turn on “Also look for similar photos” before trying the example to check for visual suggestions. Suggestions can miss a match or be wrong; you decide what to keep.

Your cleanup list is the next step. Add the extra photo and packing-list copy to your list, then download the CSV. It records files to review manually; it does not remove them or free storage. Keep at least one copy of each, and check each file’s location in your own app before deleting anything.

YOUR FILES STAY YOURS

Private by how it works.

Your files and their names are processed in this browser tab. Oshoot has no upload endpoint, analytics or sign-in on this page, and does not save your selection between visits.

Clear files or close the tab to end the session. Only the cleanup list you choose to download is saved. That list contains filenames and any selected folder paths, so keep it somewhere you trust.

Read the site privacy policy or get help with Oshoot. You do not need to send your files to use this tool.

A few things worth knowing

How does this duplicate file finder work?

Oshoot first groups files by their size. It uses small samples to narrow down possible matches, then compares every byte before labelling two files identical. Matching names alone are not enough. Large files are read in small chunks so a whole video does not have to fit into memory.

Can I find duplicate photos, videos and documents?

Yes. Exact file comparison works with any extension, including JPG, PNG, HEIC, MP4, MOV, PDF, Word documents, ZIP archives, audio and unfamiliar file types. Files must be identical in content. An edited, resized, re-encoded or metadata-changed file is not an exact copy.

What does “similar photos” mean?

When you enable it, Oshoot compares small visual fingerprints of up to 150 supported JPEG, PNG, WebP or AVIF photos. Suggestions may be wrong or miss matches. We do not judge which photo is best, and nothing is added to your list automatically. HEIC, RAW, animated images and files this browser cannot decode still receive exact file checks.

Can Oshoot clean my iPhone storage automatically?

No. This web version can compare only the files you select. It cannot scan your entire Apple Photos library, empty Recently Deleted or remove files for you. Download your cleanup list and make any changes in your own app. Selecting a file again is not proof that a second physical copy exists—check its location before removing anything.

Is Oshoot free, and do I need to upload anything?

This web tool is free. There is no account, subscription or file upload. The page itself loads from AI Governance Hub; file comparisons happen locally on your device. Browser and device limits still apply, and files in cloud storage may need to download to your device before you can select them.

Will I get a seven-day recovery folder?

No. This web tool does not create a trash folder or set a recovery period. Your Photos app, file manager or cloud provider controls deletion and recovery. A cleanup list is a reference, not a backup.
